English / Navajo Dictionary

For anyone wanting to learn Navajo, the existing dictionaries are now more than 50 years old and were printed and recopied long before the era of computers. The existing photocopies are hard to read and contain many terms which are no longer in use, plus fail to include terms like computer and all that modern life entails.

This new English / Navajo Dictionary includes over 3,000 terms, many not found elsewere along with an Navajo / English index. The definitions and parts of speech are extracted from our Words R Us system.

Since many of the terms in Navajo translate to a phrase, making if virtually impossible to create a workable English / Navajo Index, we have moved those terms to a companion volume "English / Navajo Phrasebook."

We also publish the Navajo / English Dictionary, by Leon Wall and William Morgan, published in 1958, to which we have appended an English / Navajo index and The Navajo Language by Robert Young and William Morgan published in 1972. This volume is more of a grammar text, but does include Navajo / English and English / Navajo appendices.
