This dictionary contains over 9,500 terms and phrases in Cherokee, English and Spanish along with the Cherokee transliteration. The dictionary contains 3 sections, one by Cherokee Syllabary, one by Spanish, and one by English. There are also chapters for Cherokee and Spanish pronunciation
There is a need for a Spanish / Cherokee Dictionary because a number of Cherokee migrated into Mexico after the forced removal to Oklahoma, and a number of Hispanic people now live in Oklahoma. This dictionary is an effort to address that need. We anticipate that a new edition will be needed within a few years as progress is made on documenting and reviving the Cherokee language.
