Finally there's a book for health care professionals who don't necessarily have the time or inclination to "learn" Spanish, but need to use Spanish to communicate with their patients. There are over 570 million Spanish speakers across the world and over 55 million Hispanic residents in the US. This book is designed to help doctors, nurses, and medical assistants communicate in Spanish with Latino patients and their families who have little or no command of English.

In a very accessible and insightful manner, the book addresses specific patient encounters and offers the language that will provide understanding for both the medical personnel and the patient. It includes chapters on getting to know the patient, request information, make appointments, order medicine, prepare for surgery, a chapter of illustrated anatomy, and a mini-dictionary in both English / Spanish and Spanish / English with over 500 of the most commonly use terms.

Being able to learn vocabulary in context is really important and this is where this book proves to be extremely useful. Each chapter contains a number of sentences arranged by specialty with the English, Spanish, and pronunciation of the Spanish phrase.

The first part of this book contains a guide to English pronunciation (in Spanish), followed by a guide to Spanish Pronunciation (in English).
