In the case of more common words, only the first 25 references are presented.
Some entries will show “not in dictionary.” In creating this Concordance we referenced three Cherokee dictionaries and did not find these words listed. Some are the result of typescript errors in the Cherokee New Testament as published. Others are forms or verbs or words with prefixes and suffixes which we were not able to resolve. Work is on-going on the English translations.
Each of the curently available Cherokee Dictionaries contain about 7,000 terms. This Concordance thus introduces about 4 times the number of terms. The meanings of many of these terms can only be deduced from the English meaning as found in the verses of scripture. It is our hope that this Concordance will greatly expand the available vocabulary and phrases as we seek to resurrect the Cherokee language.
